Free live workshop on Zoom

You have influence.
Make it count.

Most of us don't notice how we're using our influence, whether we're stretched thin or in a full flow state. Conscious Leadership: An Introduction is a free, two-hour, experiential workshop on noticing how you lead, at work and at home, on the hard days and the good ones, and how to practice being at your best at any moment you choose.

Everyone is a leader

Two words, redefined

Leadership isn't a title, a rank or a role. It shows up in every meeting you run, every hard conversation at home, every choice about where your attention goes. When we strip the words back to what they mean, the invitation becomes something anyone can step into.

Conscious is another word for awareness.
Leadership is another word for influence.

You cannot not have influence. Conscious Leadership is being aware of it, on others and on yourself, and choosing how to use it.

Why now

The world is changing faster than we can adapt

Most of us can feel it. The pace of change has outrun our capacity to keep up, and the gap shows up in our bodies, our teams and our relationships. When the demands in front of us exceed the resources we have, we slide into reactivity. When our resources exceed the demands, we have access to something else entirely.

Demands > Resources

The downward spiral
reactive rushed self-doubting defensive firefighting alone

Resources > Demands

The upward spiral
present curious grounded connected creative generous

The gap between those two lists isn't a gap in ability. It's a gap in access, in how often we're resourced enough to show up as our best. That's a skill, and it can be practiced. And when you're in a flow state, awareness helps you notice what got you there, so you can find your way back on purpose.

Sound familiar? Here is what leaders named on their way into recent workshops:

  • Guilt about taking time to care for themselves
  • Pressure from things outside their control
  • Holding the vision while running the day to day
  • Self-doubt and a harsh inner critic
  • Putting out fires until the next one starts
What you'll experience

Two hours, designed to be felt and not just heard

This is not a lecture. You'll move between short teaching, reflection, small-group conversation and a guided practice, with every piece building toward the next.

  1. Arrive and land

Settle in, meet the room, and name what this moment is asking of us.

  2. See yourself clearly

A playful reflection on who you are at your least and most effective.

  3. Understand what's happening

What stress does to how we lead, and a simple pathway back to choice.

  4. Practice and connect

A guided practice and a conversation with a partner about what matters to you now.

Optional bonus time follows the session for anyone who wants to go further with this work.

You'll leave with

Practices, not just ideas

You can't think your way into new leadership. You have to practice your way there.

Presence under pressure

Your ability to stay grounded when stress, self-doubt and reactivity rise is your most powerful leadership asset in an uncertain world.

More of your best days

Recognize what puts you in a flow state, and how to return there on purpose, for yourself and the people around you.

A practice you can use tomorrow

Pause, Notice, Choose and the Perfect Breath, simple enough to use in the middle of a hard day.

Clarity on what matters

A clearer picture of what your current challenges are costing, and what you want to build instead.

In their words
"[Javan] is top of his craft, and we're just so lucky and grateful to have you bringing this work to us."
Jessica Lewinski, Canada Executive Director, 30 Birds Foundation

"I am cutting out the words pause, notice, and choose, and taping them to my computer screen, so that when I do have those moments where I'm gritting my teeth, it's just take the pause."

Healthcare Network Professional

"Holy smokes, I'm not alone in feeling some of these same internal stressors, because sometimes it feels a little overwhelming and a little lonely."

Healthcare Network Professional

"I'm doing a disservice to my authentic self and my skills when I lead with self doubt."

30 Birds Foundation Staff Member

"One aha moment for me was just that not all reactivity is bad. The better question is, is it helping or doing more harm than good?"

Healthcare Network Professional

"It's just nice to feel so safe with someone, to be able to express difficult things and feel held and not judged."

30 Birds Foundation Staff Member

"Talking with my partner, we work in very different roles. However, our challenges are, at the heart of it, the same, which gives us hope that our solutions can also potentially be the same."

Healthcare Network Professional

"Just having the opportunity for introspection. Most of us probably don't take that time in our own lives. Being given that permission was nice."

Javan Kerby Bernakevitch

Javan has spent more than 20 years designing and facilitating the conversations that move people forward, across residential intensives, leadership summits, executive sessions and one-to-one work, online and in person. He works as a strategic design and facilitation partner to organizations, teams and leaders who want to evolve with intention.

The belief underneath all of it: the quality of presence a facilitator brings, and the questions asked, determine everything. Calm, intentional pacing is itself a form of leadership, one that gives everyone else in the room permission to do the same.

Questions

Is it free?

Do I need leadership experience or a leadership role?

No. If you influence anyone, you're a leader. People join from every kind of role and background, and the workshop meets you where you are.

How interactive is it?

Very. You'll spend time in small breakout groups and one paired conversation. Cameras on is encouraged so we can see each other, and you always choose how much you share.

Will it be recorded?

No. This is a live experience, and much of its value comes from being in the room together. Please plan to join for the full two hours.

Is there anything after the two hours?

Yes. Optional bonus time follows the session for anyone who wants to go further with this work. Stay if you can, leave at 2:00 if you need to.

What should I have with me?

A quiet space where you can speak freely, a stable internet connection, and something to write with. Join from somewhere you can get up and move around a little, as you'll be invited to find a couple of everyday objects during the session.
